I had a couple days off from work so I drove over to Mobile, Alabama to get away from the city and chill at my parent's place on the eastern shore of Mobile Bay.
One morning I woke up and couldn't get back to sleep. So at 5AM I got dressed, drove downtown, got on this roof and waited for the sun to come up.
The Moonpie Building. I'm not sure what it's official name is but every New Year's Eve they drop a giant Moonpie from the top.
The Van Antwerp building on the left and the Moonpie building. I don't know why Mobilians love Moonpies but they REALLY do.
RSA building and cranes at Alabama's port.

The Kress building and it's surprisingly clean rooftop.

Another alley between buildings with vines growing up the wall.

Looking towards Water St. and Alabama's port.
Looking down on a 19th century building squished between the skyscrapers.

A different angle of the Van Antwerp.
and another slightly different angle
On my way back home I spotted this relic of the past. Another example of the city of Mobile's history and something they should preserve.
and finally, one more shot before I hit the Bankhead and head back to the eastern shore to grab breakfast.
Thanks!
