I’m Jack Helean, a digital content manager, journalist, and strategist based in Portland, Oregon. I’ve spent the last seven years helping local newsrooms grow their digital presence, connect with audiences, and stay relevant in a rapidly changing media landscape.
Right now, I lead digital content for a local TV news station, where I manage web strategy, shape coverage, and make sure the stories we tell actually reach and matter to the people we serve. I recently earned a content marketing certification through HubSpot, and I’m constantly tracking the latest trends in tech, media, and audience behavior — not just because it’s part of my job, but because I’m genuinely curious about where things are going.
My approach is practical and grounded: good storytelling, smart distribution, clear strategy. I care about doing things the right way, not just the trendy way. And I believe local journalism still matters — but only if we keep pushing it forward.
Outside of work, I’m probably exploring somewhere new, geeking out over media design, or following a news rabbit hole just because I can. I like ideas, I like clarity, and I like building things that work.
